Planing
Planing is a milling operation where surface material is removed to improve the wood's surface quality
It consists in removing surface material on the whole piece of raw wood to obtain a planed piece of wood. It may be used to reduce the thickness and/or height of the piece to obtain planks with standardized sides. This operation is mainly used for the wood frame market where each thickness is precisely carpentered (specified).
Planed wood is dried beforehand to ensure the pieces supplied comprise excellent surface condition and long-term dimensional stability.
